Population Research

The Trust is running two population based research projects - an annual Winter survey and a Summer intensive survey.

Please visit our Winter Surveys and Summer Surveys pages for more information and photos.

Why do we need to research wild kea populations?

To find out why these surveys are so important please download the following paper :

Population Estimates

Additionally we will continue to log all kea sightings into our database and eBird (OSNZ) to build up detailed information on kea movements, dispersal and numbers. Please use the forms below and return to the KCT.
